June 17th was the World’s Day to Combat Desertification & Drought
The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is observed every year to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. The day is a unique moment to remind everyone that land degradation neutrality is achievable. Symbol of hope, the Great Green Wall is an African-led project launched in 2007 with the ambition to grow an 8,000 km Green Wall of trees across the entire width of Africa.
Over 250 million people are directly affected by desertification.
Nexira is highly involved in sustainable development and has taken special care to preserve the raw materials it sources every day from nature. At Nexira, concrete examples illustrate our daily commitment, especially when it comes to acacia gum.
Since 2009, Nexira is a key partner in the Acacia Project conducted by NGO SOS Sahel. The aim of the project is to build a long term partnership with local communities to support the acacia gum sector improving the living conditions of the local population.
